The Benefits of Instant Kennel Flooring

If you are interested in putting instant kennel flooring into your kennel or dog pen there are a few things to take into consideration. First of all, it should be portable. That means that you should be able to simply take it from the shop and just lay it down inside the kennel or pen, and not need to fix it to the ground or floor in any way. There is one type of instant flooring that needs to be pegged into place, in a similar way that you would peg a tent down, but this is still very portable and also perfect for laying in outside kennel situations.

If you travel with your dog a lot, if you show your dogs, or if you simply like to move the location of your outdoor kennel every now and then, you really should look into installing portable kennel flooring into your dog kennel. It is much better than not having any flooring installed at all, as it is not that good for dogs to have to lie on the ground especially when the ground is damp or the weather is very cold. In some respects, many of the portable flooring types available are also actually better than cement, which is also very cold in winter and absorbs moisture.

Another thing that is important to note is the durability of the flooring. Pups especially can be very hard on flooring and furnishings, thus you need to make sure that the flooring is rugged, can handle a lot of playing or romping around, and that there aren’t any little corners or bits of flooring sticking up that a pup could get hold of. If there’s something they can latch their little teeth onto, believe me, they will!

Look for good drainage also. Well made kennel flooring should allow any moisture or water to soak through, and ideally leave the actual flooring dry. Kennel decking is a great example of something that will do just that.

Finally another benefit of instant kennel flooring is that, for the most part at least, it usually is made to be very easy to clean. In most cases you can just hose the flooring off and that should remove all the dirt that has built up on it. For very stubborn cases, durable instant flooring can be scrubbed with a brush and bleach or a good disinfectant.
