Dog Grooming Tip: Stop Bleeding Nails

My dog has black nails, which makes it pretty difficult to clip them without incident.  Sadly, every once in a while, I take off a little bit too much, which results in bleeding.

Here’s a couple of quick fixes:

  • Strike a bar of soap against the nail.  Sounds painful, huh?  Don’t worry.  It goes quick and is very effective.
  • Pack the nail with cornstarch.  It creates a nice little buffer and stops the bleeding and the pain.
