Puppy Tips-Do Not Play Tug With Your Puppy

Submitted by Monique One Comment

Don’t Play Tug With Your Puppy

I know, I know, it’s hard to resist.  But you must try to avoid playing games of tug while your puppy still has his ‘puppy teeth’.  A young dog doesn’t have much by strength built up in his jaw muscles yet, so yanking on anything in its mouth is not a good idea.  It could result in misaligning your pup’s jaw or teeth.  Not good.  Another thing to consider is that the roughhousing will develop the aggressive side of your pup’s personality and will set the stage for aggression in the future.  Instead, play and exercise your stimulated pup with hide the treat type games or with ball play.  Doing so will ensure that your new puppy will grow up to be a much better playmate.
