Is Your Dog’s Urine Destroying Your Yard?

Is Your Dog’s Urine Destroying Your Lawn?

Well, you know that those yellow ‘burn’ spots on your yard is a result of your dog’s urine.  Why?  Well, it is a result of the dog’s digestive system having a high level of nitrogen.

Nitrogen is actually good for your lawn, just not in such concentrated doses ;) .

Here’s a couple of quick tips for solving the problem:

1.  If you can catch him doing it, you can just pour water over the spot in order to dilute the urine.  Think of it as ‘fertilizing’.

2.  Another way that you can combat the problem would be to add a little tomato juice to your dog’s food (1-2 tbsp. depending on size of dog).  That should restore the pH balance and the problem will quickly go away.
