Important Tips For Summer

In the hot, summer months we need to take certain steps to protect our beloved pets.  The heat can be even more uncomfortable for them than it is for us.

  • Never, ever leave your dog in the car.  Not even with the windows down.  Not even for 5 minutes.
  • Cement patios, sidewalks and hot sand may burn your dog’s pads.  Ever step on hot sand or pavement barefooted?  Ouch!  The same goes for the pads on the bottom of your dog’s paws.
  • Don’t let your dog get overheated.  Take it easy on the exercise.  If your dog does get overheated, don’t let him drink too much water too fast.  Believe it or not, this could be deadly!
  • If your dog has extremely short or thin hair, he can get a sunburn.  Protect his skin before he goes out.
