Some are professional dog trainer, while the others are passionate owners who just want to train their dogs into cultured and restrained dogs. For the non-professional trainers, you got to have a knowledge regarding dog training to make it effective.
One of the common mistakes in Doberman training is the reward system. There is no right or wrong in this area. It is actually the trainer’s choice. However, we have to consider that if misused they both have their own consequences. Like some dog owners use punishment for training their dogs. People have found this effective especially when training older dogs where positive reinforcements are sometimes not effective. We have to regard that Dobermans are special breed. They are indeed tough and intelligent but they are very emotional dogs.
Two negative results would yield from using negative reinforcements such as punishment. First, as I’ve mentioned Doberman are emotional breeds, they might treat these punishments deeply and would cause hatred on themselves. They would lose confidence and trust in themselves. It would result to depression and lack of energy in your dogs. As a result, they become more clumsy and unwilling to cooperate during trainings. They would lose motivation and positive regard in the concept of learning, making it more difficult to train them.
Another result would be hatred, but instead of self directed hate it would be others-directed. Older untrained Dobermans would think these punishments as negative things and that these punishments are meant to deliberately harm them. This would cause these older Dobermans to react in a protective manner. They become more wary to humans especially to their trainer. This is one of the reasons why Dobermans become aggressive and unsafe. In attempt to protect itself from harm, they initiate the harm first.
These are just some negative result in using punishment during Doberman Pinscher Puppy training . Some owners have actually used punishment as part of their training and with positive results. They have used it in combination with giving rewards and praises. All in all, the overall outcome to a successful training do not just depend on the kind of reinforcement. We have to remember that everything lies with the kind of relationship the owner and the dog has.
