What’s The Right Age To Take A Puppy Home?

So you’ve picked the perfect puppy.  Goodness, you’ve already fallen in love.  Well, what exactly is the right age to take that new puppy home?

The general consensus would be that anywhere from 6-8 weeks old is the perfect age for a new puppy to join your happy home.

This has everything to do with dog socialization.  Before 6 weeks of age, dogs aren’t properly socialized with other dogs yet.

So be patient. Visit, if you must, but try to wait until your new family member is at least 6 weeks old to take him or her home with you.
